Non-Metallic Expansion Joints Ideal For Pollution Control Systems Where Temperature Does Not Exceed 400°F

The Series 400 Non-Metallic expansion joints, manufactured by PAPCO Industries, Inc., are ideal for applications where system temperature does not exceed 400°F. The Series 400 may be constructed of two plies of FKM fluoroelastomer and one or two plies of reinforcing material (corrosion resistant wire mesh, fiberglass cloth, or other). The two plies of fluoroelastomer and one ply of reinforcing material are calendered and vulcanized to form a rugged unit that is impervious to flue gases and has excellent resistance to acids. Fluoroelastomer is highly flexible with movement allowable in all directions. Series 400 joints have excellent resistance to temperature up to 400°F and are durable enough not to require internal baffles for protection against fly ash abrasion. All joints are available in flanged (U-shaped) designs, which feature the standard PAPCO continuous molded corner.

The Series 400 is available in two styles. Type 400 SL is a single layer joint recommended for applications where maximum system temperature does not exceed 400°F. The pressure rating is ±psig. Type 400i is a self insulated multilayer joint. The outer layer is manufactured of FKM fluoroelastomer reinforced with corrosion resistant wire, fiberglass cloth, or other material. A moisture barrier of TFE or FEP/Glass laminate is provided to protect the thermal barrier from liquid condensate. The expansion joint internal insulation (Thermal Barrier) protects the elastomeric cover from overheating during protracted temperature excursions and prevents system heat losses. Both the 400SL and 400i are available in flanged (U-shaped) designs with continuous molded corners or as a flat belt for any duct size.
